This came in an recent email to finishers:

Thanks for being part of Bloomsday 2009!

Before we sign off for 2009, here are a few facts about the 33rd
running of the Lilac Bloomsday Run:

* Entries grew by nearly 8% for the second year in a row, making
totals for both entries (51,259) and finishers (45,477) the highest
they’ve been since 2002.
* We managed to compost over a ton of water aid cups as part of
our Getting Greener initiative.
* Online entries now account for approximately 80% of our entries,
allowing us to reduce the number of printed entry brochures we
distribute each year. Bloomsday will continue to look for ways to
reduce, reuse and recyle in the years ahead.
* 59.4% of our finishers were female. That number has been above
57% for every Bloomsday for the past decade, but has never reached 60%
(yet).

Thank you for participating in Bloomsday 2009!
Next year’s Bloomsday is scheduled for Sunday, May 2, 2010—the first
Sunday in May. We hope you’ll be able to join us again!
